Melanie Trump discredits GQ magazine

"The article published in GQ today is yet another example of the dishonest media and their disingenuous reporting. Julia Ioffe, a journalist who is looking to make a name for herself, clearly had an agenda when going after my family. There are numerous inaccuracies in this article including certain statements about my family and claims on personal matters. My parents are private citizens and should not be subject to Ms. Ioffe’s unfair scrutiny.
Furthermore, the statement surrounding the performance of my skincare collection is completely false. The company in which I was involved with did not honor the contract and did not meet their obligations and as such the courts ruled in my favor.
I am hopeful that the media will begin to cover me fairly and be respectful of my family's privacy.”

Fayose account frozen by EFCC

Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of freezing his personal account at Zenith Bank.

Fayose had earlier raised an alarm that the federal government had concluded the alleged plans to use the anti-graft agency to destabilise Ekiti with the aim of impeaching him.

In a message on his Twitter handle, the governor blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for the restriction on his account.

“My personal Account at Zenith Bank has been frozen courtesy of Buhari led APC tyrannical government,” he wrote.

Efforts to confirm the claim from Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of the EFCC, did not yield any result, as his phone rang out and he has not replied the text message sent.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Sunday, Fayose described the current administration’s fight against corruption as “muzzling of the opposition”.

He said some members of his cabinet and prominent chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti had been “penciled down for arrest”.

“A few days ago, we got it on good authority that there was a meeting with some politicians from Ekiti State, including an Ekiti born Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and self-professed human rights activist by agents of the Federal government, with the agenda solely, on how to bring down my administration as the governor of the state,” he had said.

“Activities of these elements that are obviously afraid of facing another electoral defeat in 2018 are being coordinated through the office of the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Mr Babachir Lawal and the attorney general of the federation.

“Certain top functionaries of the Ekiti state government and some important members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, and some associates of mine, have now been penciled down for arrest and indefinite detention by the EFCC under the guise of investigating the funds spent by the PDP on the June 21, 2014 governorship election and the Presidential election.

“The game plan is to make those to be arrested get detained indefinitely, forced them to make statements incriminating me, while at the same time feeding the public with orchestrated fake reports, using their usual media organs.

“This is coming after their failure to use the Department of State Services (DSS) to coerced members of the State House of Assembly to buy into the impeachment plot against me with a view to silencing me being a major voice of the opposition.

“To achieve this sinister plot against the government and people of Ekiti State, we have been informed that some of their trusted allies in the EFCC have been mobilised to move to Ekiti any moment from now.”
