No one wants to stay in a job where you can’t control how much money you make, what hours you keep or where job security is uncertain. We want to have a handle on our own destiny, and the best way to do that is usually to start your own business.
These words, this formula, go way back, all the way back to 1953 from a book by Marvin Small called “How To Attain Financial Security And Self-Confidence.”Needs are all around us. Look left, look right. Look below, look above. They are there, waiting for you to grasp hold and turn them into cold hard cash and a life of financial security and confidence. A business idea can come from your current job, your church, where you eat, your own home or anywhere there are people who need, well, anything!
Consider the man who invented the Q-tip, Leo Gerstenzang. He came up with the idea after watching his wife bathing their daughter. He watched her try to use cotton to clean delicate and hard to reach areas, and came up with cotton on a stick How about this: African-American Lonnie G. Johnson, who is now president of Johnson Research & Development Co. in Atlanta, saw his kids playing outside in the heat and came up with an idea to cool them off and have fun. He invented the Super Soaker! To date: $100 million in sales.
A multi-million dollar deal could be right in front of you. “Go through your home looking for trouble and seeking improvements,” Small advises in his book. “Hunt in your factory, your office, your school, your garage, your church – wherever your interests touch your communit. !
