England head coach Roy Hodgson resigned from his post in the press conference following England’s stunning loss to Iceland in the round of 16 of the Euro 2016 tournament.
Hodgson, who appeared to be reading a prepared statement, told press in attendance that the performance was “not acceptable” and said that “now is the time for someone else to oversee” the team.
“I am sorry it will have to end this way but these things happen,” he said. “I hope you will still be able to see an England team in a final of a major tournament soon.”
